Want to learn about the unique, fun topic of the BioMat and neuro art? We recently learned about a new art form (or at least new to us) called neuro art. We will explain what it is and then explore how the BioMat can facilitate this (or any) art form.

To describe neuro art, it explores ways to merge images of our brains’ neurons into beautiful art. It is a process of fusing science and art founded by Greg Dunn, neuroscientist based in Philadelphia, PA. His goal is to recruit the emotional power of art to convey concepts that would otherwise be difficult to communicate and illustrate using traditional forms of art. He says, “Neurons resemble subjects that have been painted such as trees/branches.” So, combining science (neuroscience) with nature (for example: trees/branches) into art has a unique, beautiful subliminal effect on the human psyche.

Another interesting aspect of this art form – while our brains like and even prefer patterns, neuro art is about randomness and spontaneity. If you are trying to relinquish control and/or maintain good brain health, neuro art may be therapy to achieve this!

So, as we learn more about this art form, two things:

  1. This art depicts “pictures” of our brains.
  2. By actually creating this art, we give our brains much-desired freedom of expression .

Ready to try neuro art? We are!! And what about using the professional-size BioMat for a 30-minute meditation before beginning to pain or draw or color? Talk about bliss, right?!!

Why would bio-mats be helpful to create neuro art or any other art form or music or writing or creative expression? For the past two weeks on this blog, we have focused on creativity. We encourage you to take some time and read both of these previous posts to learn more and see the applications between the BioMat and neuro art.

Love this topic? We do, too! When we all move into our most creative selves, we contribute to the world at our best!
